Bodge-it certainly sees himself as a Churchill like figure and that is basically what he bases his image upon. He sees this as the moment of Britain’s greatest need and he sees himself as the figure likely to step in to lead the Country out of it’s darkest hour towards a brighter future. All this really shows is that Bodge is full of his own importance and vanity and is in fact just a manipulative, self seeking individual from a privileged background. Also what Bodge-it fails to grasp is that Churchill reacted to circumstances brought about by other despotic figures in the world at that time. Bodge on the other hand is only trying to fix the mess of his own making and Cameron’s I should add. There is no real comparison between himself and Churchill. Churchill was a great man and Boris is well just a bit of a prat really. So when I hear statements from Bodge suggesting that he will make Britain the greatest place on Earth well you just have to laugh it is so absurd. This man cannot deliver on any of the outrageous promises he makes. He was only trusted with half a job by Theresa May and he managed to mangle and bodge that one up as well. Being a Mayor with little to do really and being a Prime Minister to lead and inspire are 2 very different roles. Bodge will just make a hash of being Prime Minister and lead the country towards ruin. Bodge has no compassion or understanding for those whose livelihoods will be wrecked as a result of his silly political meanderings. For Bodge-it it’s all just a game without serious consequences. He shows little understanding of the real world because he knows that he personally will not have to face the consequences of his silly public schoolboy pranks. Britain is certainly on the verge of catastrophe but the situation is in fact traceable back to Bodge-it-Johnson anyway and the misinformation of his Leave Campaign and it’s outrageous or liberal use of the truth and the figures during that Campaign.
Tories are desperate to rid themselves of the continuing embarrassment of Brexit so they seem to be placing their faith in the dodgy building firm of Hunt & Bodge it. They seem to want a quick fix to Brexit (a Rush Job) in order to rid themselves of the continued embarrassment of seemingly not being able to successfully get the job done. In order to hide their incompetence they have given the work to Hunt & Bodge it a dodgy local firm with a poor reputation which rumour has it will soon be going into liquidation anyway. But wasting public money by giving contracts to dodgy businesses has never really worried the Tories anyway.
Both Hunt and Bodge it claim that they can get the job done on time by the deadline but neither can guarantee the quality of their workmanship or that people will not suffer as a result of their labour’s. Health and Safety are not really matters of concern for Hunt & Bodge it!
Let’s face it, David Cameron was most probably the worst Prime Minister that Britain has ever had. His lasting legacy of incompetence can still be witnessed today with the ongoing debacle of Brexit. Not only had he given opportunity to wreck his Country but he also opened the door to to wreck his own Conservative Party through a posthumous demonstration of their ineptness and inadequacies to cope with the stupid promises that he made in order to bribe his way into power. No wonder he legged it and disappeared under a rock as soon as the results of the Brexit Referendum were known.
Despite this being only in recent memory the Conservative Party seem determined to outclass even this disgrace by potentially putting in place a new Prime Minister with the credentials to outclass even this dubious and notorious dishonour. It would appear that the momentum to win the battle to be the next Prime Minister is held by Boris Johnson despite the fact that in TV debate and in TV interview he appears to have no clear vision about what to do about the Brexit Situation that he inherited from the incompetent Cameron. His ideas seem vague and conflicting and ill thought through. He seems to believe that if his very dubious skills as a negotiator run aground he can rely on arrogance and bullying of the EU to get his own way. Something very public school about this attitude in my opinion don’t you think? When questioned about this attitude towards and concerns for the livelihoods of British Citizens regarding leaving the EU without a deal, he seemed both disengaged and unbelieving that his actions could have some consequences beyond the realm of Boris which is probably again due to his public school attitude to life. His approach therefore seems quite cavalier, arrogant and rather reckless so why would he be considered as suitable material for a British Prime Minister?
Well despite the Tories recent history of appointing incompetent Prime Ministers and Party leaders it appears that they want to elect a new one with even greater potential to do the Country harm. The Conservative’s ineptness to select a responsible and suitable Prime Minister shows a complete disregard for Britain and it’s citizens. They are seemingly willing to take a huge gamble with the well being of the UK by putting in place a Prime Minister that has the potential to do even more serious harm to the UK and it’s economy than even the stupidity and chaos wreaked by Cameron. We must ask are the Tories fit for purpose could they even organise a piss up in a Brewery? How could they even consider Boris Johnson as suitable for the role of Prime Minister but despite these major concerns they have set him in place as the favourite and preferred candidate seemingly giving his campaign the most momentum at this point. The Tory Party Leadership race is still open and the race to be the next Prime Minister is still ongoing. The Tories have really sown the seeds of their own demise in the selection and preference shown towards Johnson. The public will never forgive the Tories if they make a hash of Brexit and leave the EU without a deal. They need to select their new Leader and next Prime Minister wisely in order to avoid further catastrophe and embarrassment for both themselves and the UK as a whole. Jeremy Hunt by the same token seemingly has the same agenda albeit with a slightly different style. Hunt seems to have the same disregard for the consequences of a no deal Brexit therefore the Tories have locked themselves into a single course of action by fielding 2 potential candidates, for the role of the next Prime Minister, who both have exactly the same agenda.
Boris Johnson is a quitter; he is certainly no Prime Minister nor is he fit to be a British Prime Minister. In 2018 Boris Johnson quit Theresa May’s cabinet because he could not support her unwilling to rally to her cause he saw fit to quit because after all he is an opportunist. Johnson saw his future on the back of Theresa May’s demise and he certainly was not willing to offer his help to May because that have thwarted his ambition. No instead he was going to be disloyal to her and make himself as much as a nuisance to her as he possibly could. Boris Johnson is above all in it for himself. When the going gets tough he quits. He is a quitter which is certainly something that Britain does not need right now.
So we have a position whereby a politician can say anything they like to the public without accountability and without having to substantiate their claims. So are politicians unaccountable for the claims they make? Well according to our judicial system it would appear that they can with complete impunity. So what is to stop our politicians telling us anything they like even if they cannot substantiate their claims. This new ruling just opens the floodgate for any politicians who wants to make a power grab through overinflated and ridiculous manipulation of the truth. It casts a shadow over serious politics and political integrity. It says that anyone can mislead or mis-sell to the public without having to substantiate. Politics already has a bad reputation but now it can go much further without the need to be accountable any longer. Politicians can tell us all anything because the courts are unwilling to intervene because they don’t think it is in the public interest to intervene. If you thought that politics was pointless well it sure is now. If you thought that you couldn’t trust a politician well you surely can’t now. If you thought that politics was dishonest then just wait and see what happens next. Politicians now have a license to mislead the public by making outrageous claims which they no longer need to be to substantiate. Thus politics has been rendered completely meaningless and holding public office has has also been rendered meaningless by the same token. Public servants no longer have to serve the public but can instead just serve themselves.
On 16/09/19 Boris Johnson turned up for talks in Luxembourg with the President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, with what amounted to an empty briefcase ( meaning that there were no new proposals to consider despite having pledged to Angela Merkel last month that he would be ready to offer a new set of proposals within a 30 day time frame). So what does this tell us about Boris Johnson’s strategy for leaving the EU? Well in my opinion it reveals that he is either insane or that he is just creating a huge bluff. So why would Bodge-it Johnson and the Tories want to create a huge bluff and who are they trying to bluff. Well certainly not the EU Commission who are now in no doubt at all that the Tories (not the UK) want to leave the EU with no deal at all. No instead they are trying to bluff and deceive the British Public into believing that they are interested in a deal with the EU when in reality what they really want is a ‘no deal Brexit’ from the EU. Have you ever wondered why the Tories are so keen to push ahead with ‘a no deal Brexit’ despite the gloomy forecast for the UK’s Economic Future and the reality for the majority of UK citizens? Have you ever wondered if they are not telling you something? Perhaps Brexit is just a smokescreen for some other plans the Tories have for the UK.
Boris Johnson and the Tories are being deceitful about Brexit negotiations whereby a no deal Brexit might better suit their plans for the UK
Well in my opinion the plain truth about why they are so keen to achieve a departure from the European Union at whatever cost to this Country lies in the past and the Conservatives’ continued allegiance to the principles of Thatcherism. A recession in the UK enables the Tories to bring about changes to wage structures, an opportunity to scrap/abandon the minimum wage, workers rights, conditions of service and the list goes on. Traditionally Conservatism and Conservative policies have reacted to conditions of recession with the introduction of severe Austerity measures. Thatcherism pursued openly and helped bring about high levels of unemployment in order to increase competition for work and to drive down wages to bare minimums whilst also swinging a hatchet at the Benefits Systems which she saw as an additional burden. Now it would appear that Boris Johnson and those that stand behind him such as the likes of Jacob Rees Mogg want to return to those bad old days. The condescending Rees Mogg in particular, who resembles a Victorian in every aspect of his personality and demeanour, would like to see the working classes put in their place which would be for him in a Victorian Slum if he could gain personally from it. The Tories secret agenda is therefore a return to Thatcherite values in order to exploit the working classes in order to pursue the idea of a low wage economy. A ‘no deal Brexit’ gives them this opportunity to bring this about and seemingly at the will of, and with the seal of approval of the British people. The Tories are duping the British public into falling into this trap. they intend to make a mug of us all.
Finally, this week, the Government have been forced to come clean and actually reveal to us the consequences of Brexit, if these were not already apparent before the Referendum. Yes they have confirmed that Brexit, in whatever form it takes, will make us all worse off and basically result in an economic slump for the UK which will lead to higher prices, inflation and job losses. So well done to the small majority of people who have voted for this course of disaster : or wait a minute did you not realise that this would be the outcome?
The General Election 2017 should be the time for the Labour Party to take some risks. It’s chance of winning at the moment may be quite slim. Jeremy Corbyn has so far failed to deliver any significant left wing policies or principles. Time and time again Labour have failed to offer the voters any significant differences between them and the Tories. The Conservatives will always win battles for middle and the right so is it high time now that the Labour Party took the left wing path instead of sticking to the middle path. I believe so and so do many of the Labour Party Membership who have returned to the Labour Party believing that Jeremy Corbyn would steer the Party towards the left again. However so far we have seen no real change of course.
Labour now need to be more radical and experimental in this 2017 General Election after all what is there to lose because the middle path will only lead to another election defeat and may cost Jeremy Corbyn his position as leader.
As was the case only yesterday regarding Labour’s plans to pay for Police officers, which so embarrassed Diane Abbott the Shadow Home Secretary, the Labour need to be clear about where this money will come from. Tony Blair has consigned the Labour Party to awkward financial constraints by ditching a commitment to Clause IV of it’s constitution and indeed Tony Blair/Gordon Brown’s Governments can now be viewed as failures simply because they could not raise sufficient capital to implement plans to improve the social infrastructure because they were unable to raise the necessary capital without resorting to taxation rises. So now where does Corbyn plan to get his money from?
He needs to be clear on this if he is to mount a plausible challenge to Theresa May. People need to be re-assured that Labour can manage the economy and better than the Tories. Diane Abbott did very little to cultivate this notion amongst Voters with her poor planning.
My own thoughts would be that Public Ownership of the Railways would be the first step to finding this Capital which is desperately needed to improve public services and the social infrastructure of Great Britain. This would be a step in right direction again for Corbyn’s Labour Party and a step away from the legacy of Tony Blair’s influence upon the Labour Movement.
