My experiences following an operation to remove Bowel Cancer

I recently underwent an operation to remove part of my lower bowel. I would like to share with you some of my experiences following the operation to remove Bowel Cancer.

The reason that I am doing this is that I found that I wasn’t  given much guidance  about what to expect following  the operation. Many people’s experiences will be quite different to mine  but from my perspective  I couldn’t  really  get a clear picture of what to expect and how to manage my own experiences. This may be helpful  to others who maybe experience similar symptoms to my own.

I will say in their defence that the hospital  and the surgeon and the nursing team did a marvellous  job and I have no complaints and only admiration  for what they did but after the operation and initial  recovery  from the effects  if thd operation then things got a bit loose and vague. I was discharged and expected to make a recovery. However  this journey  to recovery  was not, in my case, straightforward and not quite as easy as I had been led to believe.
