I watched the news last night where Jeremy Corbyn was pressed by Laura Kuenssberg for an answer and commitment regarding Brexit. I have to say that he handled this very well. I believe that he is right to say that he needs the best deal for Britain before he would consider Brexit and surely this would be what everyone in Britain wants as well. The best deal possible. Why would a politician simply go ahead and rush into a situation which may be catastrophic socially and economically for Britain which impacts on not just our generations but those to come, just because of a small public opinion. On the contrary to Kuenssberg’s line of question and motivations this actually made Corbyn look very good because he is demonstrating that he is a very responsible and capable politician and leader. Kuenssberg really scored an own goal here because of her questioning which made it look exactly what it was as an attempt to discredit Mr Corbyn. Brexit is not something that should be rushed and we should not be taking chances with our economy just because of small public majority putting not just our own futures at risk but those of our children as well. Contrast this to Theresa May’s stance who seems to take every opportunity to jump on the bandwagon of public opinion and public sentiment. It was not long ago that I remember that she was actually opposed to Brexit and for the remain campaign. Yes in contrast to Corbyn May simply wants to please everyone and has no strength of her convictions she is simply looking for votes. She will not deliver on anything and that is why she is so rushing into this General Election because she can see that when the public sees through her crumbling fascade then ‘her popularity’ (already questionable) will soon wain. She has little strength of convictions and changes here allegiances according to the wind and public opinion: this is not something that a Leader should do. Her shouting match with the rest of Europe has won her no friends and simply hardened the European sentiment against her. With her at the helm Britain faces a tougher exit from Europe than is necessary and a failing economic future to accompany it. Her General Election has been called because she knows that she is constrained and hampered by Cameron’s previous election pledges not to raise taxes. May simply wants to ditch these taxation plans in order to fund her hard Brexit and make you all pay for her stupid mistakes that she is making which Corbyn rightly describes as ‘Megaphone Diplomacy’. In contrast Corbyn is showing that he is a responsible and thoughtful leader with the strength of his convictions who will not be influenced by public opinion. What more do you want from a leader?
There seems to be some confusion in Britain about the word Socialism. Socialism is a system of economics that works to benefit a greater portion of society and in doing so strives to be fairer. Socialism is not Communism and it is not Militant it is just that these organizations do use certain elements drawn from Socialism. But whilst they do employ and apply Socialism and Socialist principles they apply them in more extreme ways. If Britain were to adopt socialist policies it would be both a fairer and more prosperous place. It would largely be a better place to live. It would not resemble Russia or China or any other Communist Country and it would not mean that enterprise was stifled or curtailed as the Tories would like you to believe. Instead it would have: improved NHS, better transport system, better roads, lower taxation, improved education system and cheaper fuel bills for everyone in Britain. This list could also go on to include better policing and improved council services and the list could go on.
Socialism in Britain has been discredited by those with a vested interested to do so
The reasons why there has been attempts to discredit Socialism in Britain lie in a number of vested interests. Traditionally the majority of the media in Britain has been controlled by some very wealthy people desperate to hang onto power. Who controls the media can also control the masses by telling them lies. Newspapers like ‘the Sun’ held campaigns in association with the Tories to propel people like Margaret Thatcher to power but switched allegiance only when it saw no real left wing threat from Tony Blair. This basically amounted to brainwashing the masses and the working classes into believing that any left wing policy that introduced elements of socialism was bad for Britain and was in itself an implicit threat of Communism. Such is the power of newspapers to actually do this. Socialist Principles have been artificially distorted, suppressed and discredited in Britain because of the vested interests of the wealthy and powerful protecting their own interests and using the media to wield this enormous power and influence to control the population. For example the chances of me being able to publish this and deliver it to you in an un-edited form such as this has only really come about through the internet. People power to express themselves in this way is something quite unique in history. Censorship and control of expression has been taking place for centuries in Britain and still occurs today even despite the internet in some parts of the world. The internet though is a unique tool bypassing the controls of the wealthy and powerful who have controlled the media and hence controlled the working classes.
Well the answer to this lies in 2 camps. The main reason is that Therese May’s negotiations with the European Union are certainly not going well. In fact she is simply annoying our European Neighbours with her arrogance that she will win. Facts are that she really holds no persuasive bargaining power in these negotiations and the outcome will always be what it has been from the start that Britain faces a very tough and unprofitable Brexit. For May the further these negotiations go then the more likely that the outcome of these negotiations will not be positive for Britain or for her personally. Therefore before this happens and people of Britain begin to see behind the facade and start to blame the Conservatives for Britain’s Economic Demise, May simply wants to buy more time for herself and her Conservative Party in government by calling an early General Election in 2017. Quite simply by ruining the Economy whilst in Government would not look good for the Tories in the run up to another Election so she is hoping that within 5 years she can salvage something that could save her and her Party. Added to this is the fact that because of Brexit and the uncertainties regarding our Economy and the strength of the Pound she is further hampered by the Tories previous Election Pledges under Cameron not to raise taxation. Because of Brexit and to shore up the Economy she has calculated that this will be a further hindrance so she desperately needs to re-adjust this situation. When recently questioned about tax rises she was vague and non-committal. She well knows that she will be seeking to raise taxation. So in the end we will be all worse off well at least those that can least afford a tax rise namely the working classes. In this way Theresa May is being very devious and attempting to use the General Election in 2017 to increase taxation by stealth. This is to shore up her ineptness to steer us out of the European Union without bankrupting the country and ruining the Economy. She knows that there is a risk of this so she is seeking a mandate for us all to foot the bill for her and her Parties ineptitude.
Lastly May sees this as an opportunity to eliminate the threat from Jeremy Corbyn before he has really had a chance to develop his position in the Labour Party. Being a decent man with a caring attitude and high moral fibre she does see him as a threat despite what she has said in public. So she is spearheading a smear campaign against him with dirty political tactics. In fact she is rather despicable and not a very nice lady herself despite the public image that she attempting to cultivate ( a public makeover in the style of Margaret Thatcher). Corbyn is a good speaker and is a match for her and her arrogance in the House of Commons and May knows that he represents a threat. She is hoping that a General Election defeat will result in the Labour Party seeking to oust him as Leader in favour of another further plunging the Labour Party into turmoil.
