Nicola Sturgeon’s SNP is misleading Scotland for her cause of devolution

2 things have become very clear in the first week of campaigning in this next General Election. The first is that Nicola Sturgeon and her SNP are extremely scared of a reprise of the Labour vote in Scotland to the point of paranoia and to the point whereby the SNP is misleading Scotland into believing that devolution is the panacea for all Scotland’s problems. This can be witnessed by her attempts to convince Scottish Voters that she can actually do something to stop Brexit for Scotland. The obvious truth of the matter is that the SNP cannot prevent Brexit happening because the SNP are only a regional Party that has only limited part to play in UK policy making. The SNP is misleading Scotland and the Scottish voters into believing that it can stop Brexit by suggesting that they are closer to the Labour Party than they really are or that they can have significant influence over the Brexit debate in the UK. Scottish voters with any real sense or understanding of the issue and those not so blinkered by the devolution debate will have already realised and may be considering where best to place their votes in order to promote Scottish interests in the forthcoming General Election . In an attempt to hide both her and the SNP’s impotence on the Brexit matter Nicola Sturgeon and the SNP are fully overcompensating by again and predictably so turning on the Devolution charm in the run up to the General Election. She is also suggesting that a pact with Labour may be possible when it has been made clear that it would not be available and especially not on her terms. By doing this Sturgeon’s SNP is misleading Scotland and Scottish voters into believing that the SNP are closer to Labour than they actually are. She is doing this because she so afraid of loosing votes to Labour in this General Election. She is fearful that Scottish voters will actually realise that the SNP have only a sidelined influence over matters regarding Brexit in the UK. Scottish voters who have concerns about Brexit may actually realise that to have Scottish influence over Brexit matters they may have to consider voting for a Party that has UK wide influence that can better press the case about overturning the Brexit decision. The Labour Party is the most logical Party as a national party and could influence the Brexit debate if it were to get into government: the SNP are only a regional Party with little UK wide influence over UK policy matters. If Scottish voters were to draw this conclusion it is feasible that there could be a swing of voting away from the SNP towards Labour in Scotland. The only way that Sturgeon and the SNP have of getting the ‘Devolution Donkey’ across the Finishing Line is to blinker the Scottish Voters and to keep dangling the devolution carrot in front of them, offering this up as a panacea for all Scotland’s problems. These little matters seem to have been a source of nagging doubt which seems to be eroding Sturgeon’s confidence and forcing the SNP into misleading Scotland and the Scottish voters over what can realistically be achieved by her SNP Party regarding the Brexit matter. Thus the SNP is misleading Scotland for it’s own ambition of Scottish Devolution.

Recently there seems to have been some concession that the SNP alone cannot prevent Brexit for Scotland and her new strategy to compensate for her impotence in the matter is to suggest that Scottish devolution itself will clear a path for Scotland to re-apply to rejoin the EU after devolution. However this would be a risky strategy and by then the damage will have already been done to both the Scottish Economy and the UK economy as a whole. The message now coming from Sturgeon’s SNP is very clearly that  we may not be able to fix it for you now but we will later when we have reached our ultimate goal of Scottish independence. Ultimately and currently though Sturgeon and the SNP are misleading Scotland for the cause of devolution.

No Special Relationship and No Phenomenal Trade Deals Post Brexit

There will be no special relationship and no phenomenal trade deals with the USA post Brexit that much is obvious now. The special relationship is just a sham and the phenomenal trade deals will be tailored to suit the USA to the detriment of the UK. Over the last week or so Donald Trump has shown that he simply cannot be trusted. He pulled American Forces out of Syria in what amounted to a betrayal of the Kurds and then stood by silently as Turkey took the opportunity for a land grab. Previously the Kurds had been an ally of the USA in Syria helping to fight Isis.

Next we have seen an example of the kind of special relationship that the USA has in store for us post Brexit. The imposition of a 25% import tax on a range of popular UK exports in a tit for tat trade war that has not been highlighted by the Uk’s Tory government. No wonder that they are not keen to highlight this because it demonstrates the kind of one sided trade agreements that we can expect from Trump’s USA post Brexit in the future. The special relationship seems to have been conveniently sidelined so that Trump can get his point across and Trump doesn’t like to loose. Let’s get a perspective on this Trump has been elected President of the USA on the premise that he will ‘put America first’ and that is certainly what he intends to do. The special relationship is nothing more than words, it is a sham. Trump cannot be trusted at all, he has shown this on 3 occasions in the space of only a week so why would we as the UK want to put any faith in dealing with him?

Post Brexit the UK will be in a desperate position looking for trade deals and this desperation will be exploited by countries like the USA who will see it as an opportunity rather than a mutually beneficial agreement. Trump is after all a businessman who is used to the ways of business. Not everything in business is always fair, good and proper and there are often winners and losers where business is concerned. Profiting from business often favours the more powerful protagonist. Exploitation is often a theme in business and the UK should be aware of that. Desperation and having a weak hand is not a good position to be in when negotiating.

Clumsy and Cynical Handling of the Anne Sacoolas Affair

The last example of untrustworthiness shown lately by Donald Trump was in his disrespectful handling of the parents of Harry Dunn ( the tragically killed teenager ). It appears that a meeting was set up at the Whitehouse with Donald Trump with the undisclosed purpose of actually and publicly (photographers were reportedly present at the meeting) putting the parents of Harry Dunn in the same room as Anne Sacoolas, the woman at the centre of the diplomatic controversy and the woman who is under suspicion of being implicated in the road accident that caused the tragic death of the teenager. This action of attempting to bring about this meeting against the wishes of the teenager’s parents and revealing this purpose only during the meeting between Tim Dunn and Charlotte Charles and Donald Trump seems to have been an calculated & underhand and cynical attempt to draw a line under the controversial diplomatic row going on between the UK and the USA about this matter. Rather than respect the wishes of Harry’s parents for justice to be done in the UK whereby Ann Sacoolas comes back to the UK and foregoes any diplomatic immunity to face up to the consequences of her actions: instead there seems to have been a cynical and clumsy attempt to swerve these issues and the wishes of Harry’s parents by attempting to get a meeting between the 2 parties and a quick and convenient resolution in a deceitful and untrustworthy fashion. The whole thing has the hallmark of Trump stamped all over it. This meeting and the possibility of a face to face between Harry Dunn’s parents and Anne Sacoolas would not have been possible without the knowledge and involvement of the the President. Arrangements had been made to make Sacoolas available to Harry Dunn’s parents at the time of the meeting so presumably she was in another room in the Whitehouse. The pressure put upon Tim Dunn and Charlotte Charles was quite unacceptable and unjustifiable and in extremely poor taste. I have the utmost respect for them for refusing to give into that kind of pressure at that level Quite simply Trump just cannot be trusted. Britain Post Brexit beware of what lies in wait for you!

Brexit equals job losses : Sunderland wakes up with a Brexit hangover

News is now filtering through of the realities of Brexit. It is perfectly clear now that Brexit equals job losses and motor vehicle manufacturing towns like Sunderland are waking up with a massive Brexit hangover. Many of the biggest Uk’s motor vehicle manufacturers are all saying the same thing that in the event of a no deal Brexit they may have to consider alternatives which may include Continue reading Brexit equals job losses : Sunderland wakes up with a Brexit hangover

Robotic Michael Gove was unconvincing regarding possible outcomes of a ‘No deal Brexit’

Micheal Gove appeared to be almost robotic yesterday when offering his appeasements regarding the possible outcomes of leaving the EU without a deal. He came across as completely unconvincing as he attempted to play down the possible outcomes of a no deal Brexit with all the emotion and conviction of a Robot. Gove lacks almost every quality that you would want in a politician. He is insincere, unreliable and a real flip-flopper if ever there was one. However you might believe that he is actually quite loyal: well at least to those willing to employ him that is. He did his best to stick up for the beleaguered Theresa May in her time as PM and was supportive towards getting a deal with the EU and her efforts to do so. Now he is equally loyal to a new master that of Bodge-it Johnson whose opinions about a deal with the EU are seemingly poles apart from those of May but despite all this Gove is still loyal even to the point of spreading a few mis-truths along the way as well.

It would appear that Micheal Gove has thrown himself into his new role with such enthusiasm and conviction that he is now barely recognisable as the Leadership Candidate who opposed Bodge it so recently. At that time he seemed to have some opinions which seemed to be different to that of Bodge-it but now he has seemingly just turned into Johnson’s Puppet. All this goes to show what a vacuous space Micheal Gove really is. He resembles an empty Billboard that rents out to the highest bidder. Seemingly he will have any opinions that you wish to give him for a price. Thus it must be said that Micheal Gove appears to be a politician who lacks any real convictions at all and is willing to go wherever the money is. This is yet another self promoting Conservative politician who you simply cannot trust. Why would you trust him he has demonstrated time and again that he is insincere and unreliable. He has no convictions other than to tow the Party line to serve his paymaster. Why would we believe his appeasements regarding a ‘No deal Brexit’: this man could not give you the truth if he tried. He is more servant than savant. He is robotic and insincere and simply going through the motions.

The Butcher, the Baker, the Candlestick Maker none of these have a valid opinion about Brexit

The Butcher, the Baker, the Candlestick Maker none of these have a valid opinion about Brexit and in reality none should have been sought out to give their opinion on matters over which they knew nothing, had no understanding of nor expertise in. Such is the mess that Britain now finds itself in because it sought the opinions of the people who knew nothing about what they were voting for outside their own limited scope. Britain is now in a mess because the government of the day usurped on it’s responsibility to govern and manage but instead sought council from the majority. What is the point of having a team of managers if all they can do is make decisions that reflect public opinion. The only thing that Brexit has been good for is to demonstrate the the errors of judgment by allowing majority rule. Unfortunately the composition of society is biased towards having damaging opinions or under educated viewpoints. Never again should the people be consulted about matters of such importance. In life there are leaders and followers and there is a good reason for that as this has clearly demonstrated. Democratic principles should be used wisely and only to elect managers and representatives who have the skills required to make the decisions.

If you shop at Aldi or Lidl then you should certainly not be supporting Brexit

If you currently shop at either Aldi or Lidl it would appear that you are a shopper that likes to find the best value for the best price so if you fall into this category then you should certainly not be supporting Brexit.

Brexit will lead to higher prices even in these supermarkets. the estimated increase of prices of goods from the European Union is likely to be between 5-10% therefore you can expect to pay around 10% more for your shopping from these supermarkets. So if your average weekly shopping amounts to £100 that’s and extra £10 a week. £520 increase alone on your weekly shopping bill.

Nicola Sturgeon of the SNP should move aside because she is not doing Scotland any favours at the moment

Nicola Sturgeon of the SNP should move aside because she is not doing Scotland any favours at the moment. She claims to have the interests of Scotland and Scottish people to heart but in fact she is the worst thing that could happen to Scotland at the moment because she and the SNP are powerless to stop Brexit happening. Her obsession with devolution for Scotland is putting Scotland at risk of departure from the EU which is not the outcome favoured by most Scottish voters. However alone the SNP are powerless to prevent Scotland’s departure from the EU and a likely ‘No-deal Brexit’. If she cared about Scotland shouldn’t she put her ambitions for devolution aside for the moment and deal with the bigger issue regarding Scotland’s imminent departure from the EU along with the rest of the UK. Step aside Sturgeon and let a bigger more national party handle this bigger issue. You can always take up your cause and quest again at a later stage. The crisis facing Scotland and the UK is very real and needs to be dealt with by a Party that can challenge and defeat the Tories in a General Election. This position cannot be achieved by a single issue party with a regional agenda. Sturgeon’s position and presence is actually assisting the Tories and thereby has grave consequences for Scotland.

The UK faces a one-sided trade deal with the USA with Trump dictating terms to an isolated Britain

The UK faces a one-sided trade deal with the USA after it leaves the EU without a deal. To be sure Trump will use this situation to dictate terms which are more favourable to the USA than they would be to the UK. Trump is after all a businessman who will see opportunity when it arises. The UK will be alone and isolated and desperate after a ‘No-deal Brexit’. Basically we will have no negotiating powers to draw upon and Trump will exploit this to his advantage. This is just the way of the world and the UK will be assisting this situation by leaving the EU without a deal in place. Thus far Bodge-it has failed to get any real commitments from the USA regarding future trade other than a gentleman’s agreement which is not binding. The USA has not given firm assurances and seem to be waiting to see what happens which could turn to their advantage if Britain looks desperate and that is why they are offering Bodge no real assurances. Meanwhile Bodge-it has very little left of the 30 days he promised Angela Merkel after which he said that he would be in a position to present a viable alternative to the ‘Backstop’ to the EU. That meeting with Merkel took place on 21/08/19 so he has basically reached the half way point and still there is no sign of any new proposals coming forward to move the process along.
