It may be only Small Potatoes but the demise of the Maris Piper potato is a serious issue

What has happened to British Potatoes and in particular what has happened to the British Maris Piper potato?  They are so small nowadays that they are hardly worth peeling anymore. The Maris Piper potato is the quintessential chipping potato and has always been. But how can you make chips out of potatoes that when peeled are the size of peas? It may be only small potatoes but the demise of this once perfect chipping potato is a serious gripe for real chip affectionados who prefer to make their own chips rather than rely on a bag of frozen wannabes.

Nowadays I seem to spend so much time rooting through bags of this brand of potato on the supermarket shelves, looking for a bag with at least 2 reasonably sized potatoes so that I can make some chips. The rest of the bag is just either destined to be mash but the majority of this rubbish just ends up getting thrown away. So what has happened to the Maris Piper potato why is it being miniaturised?

Hard Times made even harder by the Tories

Yes these are hard times! The austerity programme is really biting but does it really have to be this hard? I get the feeling that the budget deficit is being used by the Tories to achieve what they never ever thought was possible: the end to public spending. This is something that Margaret Thatcher only dreamed about. The deficit has allowed the Tories to do, carte blanche, what they only ever dreamed of doing in the past. They now need no excuse to mask their twisted ambition and they can now claim to be doing their very dirty business under the guise that they are only doing it only for the public good.

Coming Soon

I am currently in the process of writing 2 further articles about how Margaret Thatcher and her government betrayed the people of Britain by selling off cheap the railways and utilities in a move designed to rob the public of their true value and why these actions have never been challenged either legally or morally. The second of these articles is designed as an Article and Petition to persuade the Labour Party that there is a real need to re-affirm a commitment to Clause IV of the Labour Party Constitution either in part or in full.

Lets consign Tony Blair to the Anus of Labour Party History

Yes you have read it correctly it is not a spelling mistake. The Labour Party really needs to expel the effluent and flatulence of the Blair legacy. It needs to purge itself of this effluent and flatulence that it developed when it sat to the right, gorging itself, at the same privileged table that was also occupied by the Tories. The bloating that the Party received under Tony Blair’s leadership is still constraining and constipating the Party. It is now misshapen and bloated and un-recognizable as a Labour Party. It needs to expel as waste the Tony Blair and Gordon Brown years. Indeed Labour would have done better not to have held office under Blair and the conditions he set out for the Party, instead it would have done better to hang onto it’s principles and wait for the right moment in time when it could have assumed power unconditionally without the need to sell out on all it’s principles. What we have now is a Labour Party without a proper set of values and principles. This is a distorted Labour Party that does not even recognise itself in the mirror anymore and it is unsure to whom it appeals or who it represents. Traditional values are gone and it lacks any socialist soul anymore. Labour now needs desperately to find a set of values with a re-instatement of Clause IV as a part of its current constitution. It needs to regain it’s socialist soul and purge itself of the influence and history of Tony Blair.

Why is Jeremy Corbyn so important to Labour Party Supporters?
