Come to Hull and see the Clowns

All throughout this City of Culture year the Clowns of Hull will be performing on Holderness Rd in Hull giving regular evening performances. This show takes place nightly near the Woodford Leisure Centre and near to the Skate Park and it is something not to be missed. The Clowns provide a regular spectacle performing death defying feats and tricks that more often than not require a high level of audience participation whether you like it or not. If you are passing you just can’t help getting involved yourself. The Clowns provide the tricks and entertainment as they cycle down the wrong side of carriageway towards oncoming traffic with no lights on their stunt cycles and wearing only dark clothing. This is a stunt that only Clowns would be capable of doing. They cycle towards oncoming traffic in death defying stunts pulling wheelies and sometimes they will even perform this as a group act. They will pounce out in front of traffic at a moments notice. It takes you by surprise I can tell you and you have to keep your wits about you when you visit this spectacle.  Not only do these Clowns put their own lives at risk for your entertainment – they put yours at risk as well and basically anyone passing by at the time. You just cannot help yourself you have to get involved. So come and see this spectacle it’s all a part of the regular entertainment taking place as a part of the City of Culture events this year – and it’s absolutely free. If you are intending to come and see the Clowns well why not bring a policeman with you if you can find one which is yet another piece of entertainment in our City during the City of Culture year.

Boris Johnson – the Fly that wants his own dung heap

Theresa May has again shown her incompetence to be the Prime Minister in a decision that she took as far back as when she took office. Namely the appointment of Boris Johnson to her cabinet. Seemingly at the time this was a move that resurrected the doomed Mr Johnson. My previous article (18th July 2016) made at the time covered some of the assumed motivations behind this surprising decision to re-appoint Boris the Annoying Fly back into political office. It now appears that I may have been wrong and the more ridiculous explanation would be that she – actually believed that he could do the job of Foreign Secretary – a job role that requires both sensitivity and diplomacy. Of course, well why not because these are exactly the qualities that one would most likely associate with Boris Johnson – aren’t they?

However it now seems that Theresa May completely under-estimated the annoying insect’s abilities to show the levels of dis-loyalty that he has shown of late. Mr Johnson has now paid her back with his new dis-loyalties which have been timed to undermine Theresa May at a crucial time in what seems like the start of a new leadership challenge and  an embarrassingly blatant attempt at self promotion.

Tougher Sentencing for Criminals in the UK

Britain is soft on crime and the Criminals know it. I have been stirred to write something here after seeing the case of an acid attack victim, Andreas Christopheros, who was basically given a life sentence because of his injuries that he received from the callous actions of David Phillips who was originally given a Life Sentence which was scaled down to 16 yrs ( so out on the streets after 8 yrs) because the Courts did not consider him a Dangerous Man. Well how do they class what is a dangerous man then? I would say of any person willing and able to throw acid into the face of another is a very dangerous individual from whom the public need protecting. This was not the actions of a reasonable human being. Reducing the sentence of Phillips is an outrage and an affront to Justice!

Mr Christopheros has been given a life sentence by this man so it was right that Phillips received the same like for like Life Sentence for the perpetration of this crime.

Over a series of post I will be looking at the failing British Judicial System in Britain to find out why it is not working and why the criminals are laughing at the sentences that they receive. These punishments are no deterrent and serve only to perpetuate criminal activities in today’s Britain. I used to work for the Probation Service so I know what a fiasco and joke it is and what takes place behind their closed doors. I will give you my insights into this and show why the current guidelines on sentencing are failing the public and why the Probation Service is failing to enforce the ideas behind the court sentencing. We will look at why the Conservative Governments are not taking this issue seriously and paying it only lip service. We will go on to look at Youth Crime and who should be made responsible and how this issue can be tackled. I will look at why Criminals need to serve the full term for offences and not to be released at the halfway point of their sentence. We will look at these early release plans in detail and see who actually benefits from these arrangements and why they have been introduced mainly to stop over-crowding in prisons. Finally I will be arguing and petitioning that we need to re-introduce the Death Penalty for very serious crimes.

Hull’s Newland Avenue’s Pedestrian Crossings pose new dangers

Here is a copy of the details from a recent complaint email that I sent to the Hull City Council regarding the improvisation of a new pedestrian crossing system in Newland Avenue in Hull.

hello – I a writing in to complain about an issue in relation to the new road surfacing that is taking place on Newland Ave. In particular I am concerned about the markings made on the road on Newland Ave. There seems to have been an attempt to put in new crossing points for pedestrians. However there does not appear to be any legal precedent in the Highway Code 2007 for these markings to appear. Drivers are confused, as these are not pedestrian crossings nor pedestrian rights of way and there is no evidence of such crossings or road markings in the Highway Code I believe that this matter of confusion is therefore putting both pedestrians and drivers in danger because of the confusion. It is already difficult enough with the numerous crossings that do exist and the road furniture that already exists in Newland Avenue without adding to the chaos and confusion. We already have people walking out into the road when in drink and we certainly do not need any more hazards of the Council’s creation. Please could you respond with how these markings are documented in the Highway Code with reference to the exact numbered item in the Code where it mentions this type of crossing. Otherwise I suggest that the Council stick to the binding authority and letter of that said Code and refrain from this type of dangerous improvisation by getting rid of these nuisance crossings forthwith before someone gets killed in an accident.

I also sent a link to them to refresh their knowledge in relation to some of the more commonly used types of crossings and road markings available.

Pedestrian Crossings

I would like to hear from anyone else who has thoughts on this matter

24/10/17 Update

The Hull City Council have still not satisfactorily responded to my complaint and questions as to the legality of these crossings still remains unclear. What the Council did say is that they want me to contact the actual contractor- Wright’s Engineering- to find out for myself. This is simply not good enough since Hull City Council has the ultimate responsibility to oversee the work of any contractor that it hires to do work on it’s behalf to make sure that it fits and complies with the legal framework. So they have basically tried to dodge the question by asking me to find out the answer myself to something that they should already know before the work was passed off as completed. This obviously has not been done in this case and the Council is therefore negligent in it’s responsibilities in this area. You would think that on works of such importance to public safety that they would be more careful – they may be putting lives at risk.

Britain has been wrecked and bankrupted by the Privatisations of Thatcher and Major: it’s time to change it

Privatisations have not worked for the British Public. Privatisations have only been successful only for the shareholders and fatcats. It is now a failed experiment that needs to be addressed. The time for apathy about this issue is over. The privatisations of Margaret Thatcher and John Major have bankrupted Britain robbing money from the public purse and taking away any abilities of subsequent governments to invest in the infra-structure of Britain. The public have been cheated and robbed of their assets by these privatisations which now continue to hold their customers in contempt with massive price rises to satisfy the insatiable greed of the shareholders. These are Britain’s money making assets which have been taken away. It is time to come to our senses and put pressure on, or better still elect a government that is willing to tackle the issue  head on and do the right thing. The public need action not some tinkering and adjustment to tariffs : empty promises that never seem to come to anything. This issue needs a complete overhaul and reversal of these privatisations which occurred under Margaret Thatcher and John Major regimes. In all cases the public was mis-sold these privatisations on the promise that it would be good for the consumer and that it was in the consumers best interests to have and benefit from increased competition. However in all cases this has not proved to be the case at all. All we have seen instead is Cartel like behaviour and confusing and mis-leading and expensive pricing structures. The public need to own the Gas Supply Industry, the Electricity Supply Industry and the Railways. It is firmly in the interests of the British Public to do so. With the Capital that public ownership would generate we could improve the NHS, improve public services and start to significantly reduce the National Debt in the UK. It could spell an quicker end to Austerity Measures, which have been unnecessarily imposed on us by a Tory Government and Coalition which lacks any real vision or ambition for Britain.

Is Britain a now a classless society or is this just another strategy in British Class Warfare?

Some newspapers and the Tories are trying to convince us that Britain is now a classless society with class mobility to all levels but is this true and in whose interests is it to make us actually believe this? Is this simply a strategy in the ongoing Class War in Britain.

Beware the Sun tabloid newspaper is a Cuckoo in Britain’s Class War

The Newspaper in general may have outlived it’s usefulness. It is after all strongly edited for political bias to represent its own interests and the views of their owners/bosses. Other information is now available and getting heard that is not so strongly censored nor representative of only a small minority. Freedom of speech is now more achievable than ever because of the accessibility of the Internet where some aspects of censorship can be overcome and the voice of both socialism and the youth can now be expressed far more freely than ever before without censorship from powerful newspaper editors. Newspapers have always sought to limit change and to suppress a voice and platform for socialism in Britain. Through censorship or false representation of socialist policies (Loony Left was a derogatory term coined by many of these newspapers to undermine socialist values) they have succeeded in limiting political choice for the masses and this could be viewed as actively sabotaging choice in the political electoral system of Britain by exerting pressures to manipulate political parties to either adopt or curtail political aspirations. One particular newspaper, the Sun tabloid newspaper, has done this whilst attaining mass appeal amongst the working classes whilst subversively encouraging divisiveness in order to prevent any sense of class realisation and class identity whilst also seeking to undermine the institutions which promote the interests of the working classes. This paper the Sun tabloid newspaper and it has been and still remains ‘the Cuckoo of British Class Warfare‘.

Morrisons Petrol Station, Holderness Rd in Hull may be selling dirty diesel fuel

I recently had issues with fuel purchased from this garage and took this up with Morrisons but they refused to acknowledge my complaints or investigate the matter. They simply said that they had not received any other complaints however this reasoning left me unsatisfied and I have not returned to purchase any more diesel fuel since and I have to say that neither have I had any further issues. Let me explain more as to why I believe that there are problems with fuel from this retailer.

I am currently a taxi /private hire driver and as such I use a great deal of diesel. I used to purchase nearly all my diesel from Morrisons until I had these problems. It appeared that I was experiencing a fuel blockage. This happened once after I filled up at this Morrisons garage. Thinking it may be the fuel that I had put in the next time I went to a different garage for my fuel. I experienced no further problems. I did this for a week without any further problems after which I returned to Morrisons to fill up again . Then after leaving the garage forecourt and driving only a half a mile or less I got a repeat of the fuel issues that I had experienced earlier. I decided to complain to Morrisons but they took some persuading. They sent it to someone higher up the head office and approximately a week later I go a standard disclaimer from some jobsworth. I have never gone back to use Morrisons fuel from that garage on Holderness Rd in Hull nor will I. It has been some months now since all this took place and I have experienced no further fuel starvation symptoms in my vehicle. I have made up my mind and I believe that you would also come to the same conclusion.

I would like to hear from anyone who has similar issues with this garage/ fuel retailer.

Thank You Jeremy

Despite not winning the General Election of 2017 outright there was only one real winner on that night and that was Jeremy Corbyn.

In a very understated way Mr Corbyn has shown that the Labour Party can be a real contender again if it sticks to what it has always been: a Party which represents fairness for all not just the few in other words a real Socialist Party. It is time to dismiss and bury the embarrassing Blair/Brown years and time to go forward with Mr Corbyn’s vision of a true to itself Labour Party Movement. For putting the Labour Party back on track again I will always be indebted to Jeremy Corbyn. Let’s finish the business now Jeremy and lets get Clause IV re-instated back into the Labour Party Constitution in a meaningful way.

May appoints the unpopular Gove to her Cabinet further undermining public opinion in her abilities to govern

What a bizarre choice of appointment Michael Gove is by the Prime Minister. Only just recovering from her defeat and humiliation in the General Election of 2017 she adds a minister who is likely to further alienate her from the public. By appointing the ever unpopular Michael Gove to her cabinet she is further undermining the public confidence in her abilities to govern as Prime Minister. It demonstrates yet again a severe lack of political judgement by the already beleaguered Prime Minister.

Michael Gove is probably the most despised and hated politician of a generation so why appoint him to the Cabinet?

Michael Gove was one of the most despised and hated politicians of recent years and when in positions of Minister of Education and Minister of Justice he managed to galvanise public opinion against him. He became probably the most unpopular Minister of recent years. In fact there was a sigh of relief when he was dropped from the Cabinet by Theresa May. Now he is back in again. On the face of it this appears to be another, yet another, act of political blindness on behalf of Theresa May. Mistakenly Theresa May believed herself to be popular amongst the electorate. She falsely assumed that the working classes would swallow her garbage about the Tories being the Party offering the greatest choice and representing the interests of the working classes now she scores yet another political own goal by appointing the most unpopular politician of a generation to her Cabinet. How many more political gaffs can this Prime Minister make before she exposed as incompetent?

My own view on the matter is more that Gove has been appointed to stem the threat to her leadership from BoJo.  Mr Gove clearly has some influence over Boris Johnson which became apparent in the leadership battle otherwise why did Mr Johnson drop out so easily to leave the field wide open for Gove himself? It may therefore be the case that May actually needs Gove at this moment in time and has been forced by circumstance to offer him a job in her Cabinet. This may be a dangerous move on her part as Gove may already be scheming to make his own leadership challenge and she may in fact have only served to strengthen his hand. It may also be a a strategy of keep your enemies close by giving Gove, at least in part, what he wants. The reality is that Michael Gove could never be palatable to the public as serious material for Prime Minister anyhow: he is just too unpopular and will always remain so but he is also: scheming, ambitious, greedy, and above all a major threat to the weakened Prime Minister at this moment in time.
