Water Companies have been let off by this Labour Government. Water Companies are being allowed to increase their bills to consumers to levy funds to make improvements to the infrastructure. It’s a disgrace on this Labour Government that this has been allowed to happen. These same Water Companies continue to illegally polite our rivers and our coastline. All this is happening on a Labour Watch. Labour have disgraced themselves by allowing this to happen.
The whole purpose of privatisation was to ensure that Water companies were going to responsible for the management of our Water resources which meant providing a better service and better consumer satisfaction. They were meant to be self funding for their own development needs and also to provide dividends for shareholders which didn’t conflict with their purpose. In all these respects the Water Companies have failed. They gave artificially incremented dividends to their shareholders whilst failing to invest in the infrastructure which they ran down year after year whilst investing in profiteering enterprises outside their remitt. In all aspects of performance they breached their contractual obligations. And now this Labour Government is just letting them off and asking the bill paying public to foot the bill for all their mismanagement. Labour should be ashamed.
All this should have been dealt with by taking all Water Resources back into public ownership where it belongs. Not a sign of this from the new Prime Minister. Labour are as bad as the Conservatives who forced privatisations upon us. Andy Burnham talks about reversing decades of political decision-making that has held Britain back. Surely he is referring to the privatisations of Thatcher? If not , why not? These are the things that have held Britain back and keep us locked up and chained to the dismal decisions of Thatcherism decades ago.
Andy Burnham needs to tackle the big issues facing Britain, including Thatcher’s Legacy
The Water Companies have proved time and time again that they are not fit for purpose and that they have broken the publics’s trust. They have morally and legally not served their main purpose as custodians of the nation’s Water resources. Because of this they should be removed without compensation and Water should be taken back into public ownership as a matter of National Emergency. If Burnham is a man of his word he should see to it as soon as possible. If Andy Burnham wants real changes to the direction of Britain then he must tackle Thatcher’s privatisations which are part of her legacy and still impact heavily on the Britain of today. Britain can’t move forward until it tackles the privatisation mistakes of the past. These are the biggest mistakes in the political landscape of the last 40 years. These are the big issues facing Britain which cannot be ignored.
Britain cannot move forward until it tackles the privatisations issue
At the moment Burnham is just tossing out small change ideas. He needs to tackle these big issues and undo Thatcher’s legacy.
