I simply fail to understand that people cannot grasp this simple concept. Brexit will create high inflation and make us all worse off. The devaluing of the pound has made this quite clear in the run up to jumping off the cliff and if we continue then this situation will only worsen. Spelled out this means that we cannot buy our imported goods as cheaply as we do now. Since we rely so much on imported goods (no Britain could not achieve self sufficiency as many Brexiteers believe) so we will all have to pay more for these goods because of a weak pound. Now add on to this the hard Brexit that will occur because of our poor relationship with Europe and then you get Trade Tariffs as well. At the moment we have no Trade Tariffs with European Union. So slap that on the price of our imported goods and you have got to realise that everything is going to be so much more expensive. Inflation devalues your wages and makes you worse off. So is that clear enough now? Do you still want to get out of the European Union under such adverse conditions jumping from the frying pan? Are you willing to make yourselves worse off simply because of your dislike of foreigners and immigration? Yes there may be more jobs as a result of Brexit but you will also be giving the Conservatives the kind of climate they thrive in : namely a high inflation and low wage economy which gives them the opportunity to erode workers rights and working conditions and drive down wages. Britain will be going backwards to the 1880’s as in the Victorian Slum times again if we have this stupid Brexit either that or we all be living like Tom and Barbara from ‘The Good Life‘ TV sitcom because that is what these Brexiteers have envisaged for us : Britain on it’s own again living the self-sufficient lifestyle. Tom and Barbara’s attempts to be self-sufficient were the laughable subject matter for a slightly amusing TV sitcom and Brexit will have the same effect but extended far beyond Tom and Barbara’s back garden and make us all, here in Britain, the laughing stock of Europe.
Also do not look to the United States of America for help and special trade agreements. Donald Trump has been elected to President of the United States based upon his protectionist stance in terms of trade. In effect he is going to limit imports and force Americans to buy American made products. That is exactly how he intends to revive and re-energize the American Economy.
