When will the British people come to the realisation that the mess that Britain now finds itself in is as a direct result of putting in power successive inept and incompetent Conservative governments. The Conservative Party has led Britain down a dead-end street to the mess that it now finds itself in. The most recent manifestations of these governments have shown that they lack any ideas or ambition to turn Britain around. Conservative Party policies lack any ambition for Britain, instead clinging onto the outdated ideologies of thatcherism which have been shown not to work. Britain needs a fresh set of ideas to tackle the issues of today. The Tories lack these ideas and they lack leadership: they are barren and dysfunctional. They are unrepresentative of the majority of the British people who stand to gain nothing at all by voting Conservative. So why aren’t people catching on to this? Is it something so endemicaly British that says we must suffer and put up with incompetence? Why should we put up with attacks on all the things that are good or were good about Britain like the NHS for example. Don’t let the Tories fool you with their rhetoric they hate the NHS: they see it only as a tax burden. The recent austerity program that they imposed upon Councils was in reality just a ‘blessing in disguise’ for the Tories in that it allowed them to go further with cuts to public funding than even Margaret Thatcher could have dreamed of. With these cuts they have drawn a line in the sand and there will be no return to the excellence of our public services not under the Tories.
Tag: The Cost of Living Crisis
The current ‘Cost of Living Crisis’ is being driven by Inflation and the lack of an adequate Energy Provision in Britain. Currently the Energy Provision in the UK is partially owned by outside interests such as EDF which is a Feench Company. As such we don’t control our own Energy Market in the UK. Also all the Energy providers in Britain are run on a capitalist model of run to maximise profits. The current situation with the war in Ukraine has provided these Energy Providers with an opportunity to maximise their profits and exploit the consumer’s mercilessly. Britain’s Energy Providers are directly responsible for current levels of Inflation and are driving
the ‘Cost of Living Cris’. Britain’s Energy Provision should be publicly owned and not run on a for profit only basis. Margaret Thatcher’s policies falsely made Public Ownership of Energy look unattractive: however these companies are, and have always been profitable and could be an asset to yhe UK: but their value has been swallowed and lost to profiteering. Who gets these massive profits is now up for public debate and increased scrutiny. My argument is that the public should benefit from these profitable companies and the money used to fund the NHS and other public infrastructure. There is also a case for the government to start it’s own Energy Provider with the sole aim of increasing competition in the energy provision market with the ultimate aim of putting the current providers out of business by driving away their customers. This idea is explored as an alternative to re-nationalisation
Competition is the way forward for the public ownership of Gas and Electricity in Britain
A sure fire way to get the utilities and railways back into public ownership and the less costly way of achieving this.
Yes I admire the ambition of the Labour Party Manifesto and it’s aim to get the Gas and Electricity utilities and railways back into public ownership. Success of this would lead to a more prosperous and fairer Britain and it would be the start of a new era for Britain. Yes it is high time to reverse the failed privatisations of Margaret Thatcher and John Major, and this would be a move which would put Britain on track again. However the scale and the cost of the task is dauntingly enormous and Thatcher knew how difficult it would be to ever go backwards. She tried to make her privatisations irreversible in an attempt to frustrate any attempts to ever develop socialism in Britain. She thought that she had had the final word but despite this there was a fundamental flaw in her plan and one which the Labour Party could exploit if it is savvy enough.
